SEASONS OF LIFE

The phone rung three times in her office and she picked it up. At the other end of the line, a strange female voice answered, “please rush to Queens Hospital your daughter is here and she is seriously injured!” Before she could ask who she was talking to the line was cut. In her confused state, she rushed to the hospital and when she got there, she only found a corpse of her daughter lying on the mortuary bed. She died just a few minutes before she arrived. Liz was her beloved second-born child who only turned sixteen a few days before she died the most horrified and gruesome death. She had a deep cut in her skull and another one on the left side of her face. The beloved daughter was hacked to death by the very same person who was supposed to be her protector, provider, and shield. She lost her life in the hands of her own father! Upon seeing the body of her dead child she collapsed and fainted consequently she stayed in the hospital for the next two weeks and she missed the fune...

It a beautiful sunny day, clear clouds, birds sing, kids playing, it was just such a wonderful day until we heard a horrendous scream of a woman. We dropped everything we were doing and ran towards where the scream was coming from. We discovered that the heartbreaking scream and crying was coming not far from where we were. We arrived at the scene only to find a woman helplessly on the ground covered in dirty and an ocean of tears rolling down her cheeks. Her sight was so somber, heartbreaking and very frightening that it made our eyes watery before we could even understand why she was crying. We inquired from her what the problem was, she didn’t respond in words but she just pointed at a window just above her. Sometimes when reality catches up with you, you stand and watch with your mouth open most especially if you never expected it to happen. It doesn’t really matter if it’s a good thing or a bad thing. Now accepting reality sometimes can be very hard mostly if it has not gone our way. I honestly find that hard too but I have just realized is that the faster you accept it the faster the pains disappear. Facing the reality of losing a job, a child, partner and many other things that matter to us is not easy. Sometimes things just don’t work out as we wanted them to. The accepting part can also be looked into two dimensions. The first one is accepting that some people like us while we don’t. I have heard, read or witnessed suicide deaths before but it had never happened to a close friend or relative.But the recent death of my friend who chose to take away his life has had a big effect on my life. It has taught me a very important lesson that i will try not to forget. Just as there's a thin line between love and hate so is also true with life and death. You meet somebody today full of life, the next thing you will hear tomorrow is that the man is dead. Such is the truth about life. Just this year I have been shocked by death news. The first was my uncle who after working the whole day on his house (he was building) with his builders, felt ill the same day night and he died in early hours of the next day. This shocked me. How can a man who was full of life die like that? He never had any serious health problems to justify his sudden death. For the past ten years i have had a privilege of standing in public and addressing people on various issues. It has been a very good experience. One thing that i have learnt is that people like to follow our actions than our words. I have also noted that we have lots and lots of secret admirers who are shaped by our actions. They rarely come in the open or speak to you directly. Silently they follow every move you make. They cannot find time to congratulate you, condole you or at least say something.
